You might not have given it much thought, but the browser your website is viewed on can completely change its appearance. Today there are two main types of browsers: Internet Explorer and Firefox. The purpose of this week’s article is not to get you to change over to Firefox, listing about why it has tabbed browsing, blocks popups, and is generally more stable. No, today we will discuss how the difference between Internet Explorer and Firefox affect your website.
If you haven’t recognized yet by the tone of this email, Internet Explorer 6 (IE 7 is getting better) is a curse on browsing the internet. Besides being a regular target for hackers and bugs, IE has a difficult time loading webpages the way they should be displayed. If you are designing a standard website with flat images you’re fine for the most part, but as soon as you start trying to work with transparent images, or arrangements of images that make your site look polished, Internet Explorer puts the caibosh on your dreams of layered images by filling in any transparent screen with an ugly gray box.
Also if you ever want to line up your site’s content using tables and you would like to left justify your content, sometimes IE doesn’t recognize this and centers all your content until you go into the code and figure it out. Firefox, on the other hand is great, it shows the page the way it was made to be seen, without silly images glitches and the like.
I know that many of you are saying to yourselves: “but hey! aren’t there are other browsers out there like Netscape or Safari?” Basically they are all falling in line with Firefox’s platform and are far less used than Firefox or IE. The stark facts remain, until Microsoft stops installing IE on applications of windows, we will continue to have cross-browser conflicts. At present, 54% of the visitors to QTweb.ca use Internet Explorer.
So what does that mean for you and your website? Not a heck of a lot, if you are a client of QT Web Designs – since we constantly check your website against defects on all current and past versions of major browsers and try to build your site in a way that is accessible and consistent for all. Contact us today if you would like us to see how your site works across several different browser platforms. If you are designing a site yourself, our best advice is to always preview your site on multiple browsers since you never know how it might translate.

Help answer the question about Browser type
why is my yahoo search window in my yahoo toolbar for my browser showing whatever I type?I have AVG anti-virus along with the yahoo toolbar running on my firefox. Sometimes I see stuff I typed in the yahoo search box in my yahoo toolbar. I don't like that something is keeping stuff I typed out why is this? Is it a bug, a virus, spyware? Can other people or companies be viewing the information I've typed? Is my privacy being breached?

Try Alt M. You can also get a period while typing text by double spacing.

Use Windows Explorer or open "my computer" from your desktop.
There will be an address bar there, enter your ftp url
Should prompt you with user and pass. If it doesn't, right click blank space in the window and select "login as…"
Then type in user and password.
newer version of IE doesn't support FTP connections, you have to use Windows Explorer.

It's not a weird code; rather, it's the router's IP address. That will vary depending on how you've set up your network, but if you didn't change it, Netgear routers default to 192.168.0.1 . (Linksys defaults to 192.168.1.1 ; I'm not sure about other brands.)

For $2000 you can get a PC with incredible specs.
Macs are for looks, family. and a nice OS
Windows is for business, price, and compatibility.

Dude, wth? I said FIREFOX or MAC, now I would REALLY sound like a jackass if I didn’t say a way that Windows users can avoid this kinda stuff. besides, what is wrong with Mac? I use both, and I have no problems accepting both for everyday use, if someone says that windows is better, I don’t give a crap, it is in someways so cool it, we don hav to result to cursing like 12 year olds, oh and look “4) Don’t curse. Everyone who curses I automaticly assume that they are twelve years old.” on ur pro

Windows based computers are based for cheapness, rather than a mac uses less resources which means hardware and software can perform faster
December 30th, 2009 on 6:29 am
yeah, it will. but you dont have to worry about activex if you use firefox. also the adblock plus extension will block ads from sites like doubleclick, but most website owners rely on ad revenue to pay for their site, so adblock plus could hurt website owners.

actually making new browser is not logic when they have one.i think IE is good enough to develope. The reason that IE has so many bug is not the IE itself its because all the hackers are focusing on IE to findout security holes because users of IE is more than users of other explorers.nowadays we can see the number of firefox users are increasing so the hacker attack on firefox also increased and as we see sometimes there is some bug on mozila also.for me firefox and opera are the best i dont like microsoft but they are really powerful.

MACs are often mis-used, they are designed for more horse power than a standard pc. like graphic editing, adobe tools ect. pretty much why they cost like $2000

Are you looking for the modem/router address?
If you cannot find it do what works for any router:
click Start
Run
type CMD (ugly command prompt box comes up
type IPCONFIG
look for Default gateway — it is the address of your router
